IMHO IRL Crushes it!

If you are closer to 20 than 50, you probably read the title without any effort.

If you are north of 50, you probably wondered if my spell checker is OTF (On The Fritz = out of order, malfunctioning). I just made OTF up. I doubt it will catch on.

Even if you are north of 50, you’ve probably texted LOL or OMG. Look at you, so hip and with it. (Yeah, no one says that anymore either.)

Still, in these days of emojis and memes, we can feel out of it when we don’t get it, leaving us feeling extra old.

How about this… Instead of SMH*, ask “What does that mean?”  Take the opportunity to connect, not pretend by saying IGI.

Test your “hippness” by seeing how many of these you know. I added the explanations … just in case. The ones I knew were way out of date. Sigh.

BTW – by by the way

WSIWYG – what you see is what you get

IMHO – in my humble opinion

*SMH – shaking my head (in disappointment, disbelief)

TBH – to be honest

TMI – too much information

NEI – not enough information

FOMO —  fear of missing out

JOMO – joy of missing out

FWIW – for what it’s worth

POTS – plain old telephone service

TMOT – trust me on this

IGI – I got it (I understand what you said; or, for Robert Heinlein fans, “I grok it.”)

ICYMI – in case you missed it

NVM – never mind. (Forget what I just asked)

IRL – in real life (an interaction that takes place with another human in same space, offline).

PS: There’s a bunch more online. Careful of the rabbit hole!
